RSL transmitter at the Hampstead Hill site. |
The EKR satellite service was to be marketed and promoted by a series of 28 day RSLs (Restricted Service Licenses) broadcasting to major cities around the UK. The intention was to stimulate interest in Satellite and Digital radio as a whole.
After the North London RSL further broadcasts were planned in Manchester, Birmingham and Newcastle however the Radio Authority came to the conclusion that RSL programming should be originated from within the local broadcast area.
This decision from The Radio Authority had not been forseen, hence North London was EKR's last RSL broadcast. |
